Becoming Catholic (RCIA) - Saint Michael Church
At Lima First Assembly of God, we are proud to offer the Becoming Catholic program, also known as Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), at Saint Michael Church. Our comprehensive program guides individuals on their faith journey towards becoming a part of the Catholic Church. Whether you are new to the Catholic faith, exploring Catholicism, or looking to officially join the Church, our RCIA program is designed to provide you with the knowledge, support, and community you need.
Why Choose RCIA?
Choosing to embark on the RCIA program means you are ready to deepen your relationship with God and fully engage in the Catholic community. This transformative journey will not only provide you with a strong foundation in Catholic teachings, sacraments, and traditions, but also help you discover a sense of belonging and purpose within our faith-based community. Our knowledgeable instructors, nurturing environment, and engaging curriculum ensure that every participant receives the guidance they need to navigate their personal faith journey.
What to Expect in the RCIA Program
The RCIA program at Saint Michael Church is a comprehensive process that typically spans several months and consists of several key stages:
1. Inquiry
During the inquiry phase, individuals are encouraged to ask questions, explore their faith, and learn more about Catholicism. Our team of experienced mentors and instructors are here to provide support and guidance as you begin your spiritual journey.
2. Catechumenate
Once you have decided to move forward with the RCIA program, you enter the catechumenate stage. Here, you will delve deeper into the teachings of the Catholic Church, scripture, sacraments, and the liturgical year. You will also have the opportunity to participate in various community activities and events.
3. Purification and Enlightenment
The purification and enlightenment stage usually takes place during the Lenten season. It is a time of reflection, prayer, and preparation, leading up to the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter Vigil.
4. Mystagogy
After receiving the Sacraments of Initiation, the mystagogy period begins. It is a time of continued learning, reflection, and integration into the Catholic community. You will have the opportunity to grow in your faith and deepen your understanding of the Church through ongoing education, support, and participation in parish activities.
